She was mine and I was hers.
In my youth, she taught me and she never left me in the unmoving loneliness.
In her youth, I adventured beyond borders with her that I never could have crossed alone.
We scavenged the fields. We skimmed the pond. We sat in the ruins. Together.
In my adolescence we walked side by side, taking in the sounds of the untainted Earth.
In her adolescence, she brought me tiny gifts of stolen life, covered in feathers.
In the end, we shared a long and silent understanding of each other.
We understood the time. The distances. The differences.
In the end, she became the Earth that we used walk on with one another.
She was mine and I was hers.

I miss her very much.
And I will carry her with me always.

SO curious to see this pre-production! It's got such gorgeous color and lighting, makes me wonder how much you "perfected" it in PS. :D

Thank you so much! :)

I actually didn't have to do much in post to this photo.  I just cropped slightly, darkened the background a bit and desaturated her fur as well as brightened the eyes a tad.

Other than that, this was just really luck, one of those 'magic moment' shots during the right time of day. :D

I'm surprised! The contrast of the lighting with the background and foreground are what's most interesting. Good choice on the way you desaturated the fur. Creates a really cool dark/light dynamic. :)

Its not often that a photo will speak to me, but you my friend have achieved that, accompanied by those wonderful words too.  In this photo your cat looks very old, and reminds me a lot of my very first cat who lived to the grand age of 20 years.

If she is old then she has aged gracefully. Stunning photo, beautiful cat, haunting words... nuff said n.n

Hi there:wave: Thank you very much for the kind words.  It means a lot that my work (written and visual alike) has affected you so.

My cat was just shy of 18 years old when she passed.  In this shot she was about 15 :)

Thank you
