*I found this little dove in my backyard this afternoon. It seemed so strange
to me that he did not fly away upon hearing my footsteps. He just looked as
if he was sleeping. I reached out to pick him up and he was frozen, dead.
It broke my heart. Ah, such is life... such is death.

*PS - I updated my watermark to include my DevArt site, I think I like it better this way.

What did you do with it?

I took it out of my back yard (because there are 3 dogs currently living at the residence I'm at, and I didn't want them to eat it and become ill). I just put the dove in the side yard. I know it might seem cruel, but I left it out because it might be able to help feed our other local wildlife (raccoons, possums, foxes, coyote, other birds, etc). Waste not.

Fair enough. I once saw a pigeon sitting in a corner and as I got closer, it turned out to be headless. It made me sad

Maybe a cat got it. I was picking a friend up from a camp so there was nothing I could do for it. I just had to make sure I didn't keep looking at it.
