*Yes. I am a Potter nerd.
Harry Potter was a huge part of my teenage years. This might sound
overly dramatic, but that book series helped me get through a lot during
that time in my life. It helped me to escape from the mundane, the cruelties,
the boredom and the occasional sadness. Thank you Harry, Ron and Hermione.
And most of all, Thank you J.K. Rowling for such a great adventure.

I've never read the books but I saw all the movies pretty much in one day, or a week-end, after I came stateside. It was an adventure.=D I really identified with how Harry struggled with his legacy when I watched the series. I grew up in an Old World multi-generational coven that goes back centuries. it's not something I openly talk about but people here do know. My mam was a witch. My da is still a sorceror. I'm not part of it. I left all that behind in Ireland when my aint brought me here to live in America. She made a promise to my mam that I would not grow up in that world. It's not what you think. It's not Harry Potter. It's very...dark. The Potter series is total fantasy although it does use a lot of genuine occult craft details (she obviously did her homework) so it was interesting to watch. The movie isn't really about witchcraft so much as it is about friendship, loyalty and duty, it just takes place in a school for witchcraft. It's a pretty amazing story on that level. I can see why you liked it so much.:nod: I'm a total LOTR geek so I can't talk.:giggle: I have the dolls, action figures, the movies, the music, the books, the movie books, even a dress that's elven and fake latex ears, etc. You get it.:laughing:

In high school I had a couple of friends that were into the darker side of witchcraft and such. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm not one to judge another's beliefs. Some people just choose that belief system or lifestyle. Unfortunately, sometimes those choices can negatively impact their surroundings and the people in them.
I'm glad to hear you're in a more positive area with your Aunt though :) That's good to hear.

The main theme of Harry Potter is love (which is very different :D ). I think you might enjoy the books (they are much better than the films - as most books are).
I'm a fan of Lord of the Rings too! (although I have not read the books, but I want to). The Hobbit film is soon to be released. Are you going to go see it? I'm probably going to take my younger brother to see it (as he's read "The Hobbit" book).

I'm glad to be free of it too. The world I grew up in...is not for the faint of heart.

I know, right, that's exactly what Harry Potter was all about.:highfive::nod: It wasn't about the witchcraft. That's just the world Rowling created to tell her story of family, fidelity, love, and duty. The greatest love story in the series turned out to be less about Harry, Hermione and Ron but none other than Snape. Wow, watching the movies I never saw that coming. No doubt, Snape and his love for Lily will go down as one of the most tragic and powerful love stories in modern literature.:tears: What he did for Harry was amazing.

You bet!! I'm going to be there for opening night.:w00t!: My sister said she would camp out for tickets if she has to. =D We're going to dress up, that's how crazy we are.:giggle:

I'm a Harry Potter fanatic myself. Haven't gone to HP world yet though... but I bet I'm gonna have fun reminiscing them too. Harry, Ron and Hermione helped me too in getting over the mundane life I've got. Nice work by the way. :D
I've got a wand that lights up when I shake it. Used to have fun with it before it got broken and snapped. ^^;
